Last night I watched High School Musical 2 for the first time ever, and it was kind of mediocre. Before I watched it, I asked my cousin if it was good, and she told me that not only is it good, it's also "better than the first one". To be honest, I had doubts that I would like it considering that I knew it took place on some country club, so I just assumed it was gonna be boring. Anyways, I put in the DVD and started watching.
DVD!?!? Why did you buy a fricking DVD in 2025? And out of all things, High School Musical 2???? Why didn't you just watch it on Disney+ or something!?
First of all, I can do whatever I want with my own money so...
SHUT UP.
And also because I recently repaired (I just connected the copper parts of the power cable together because it was cut in half) my parents old VCR + DVD player that hasn't been touched since 2019. Suprisingly, there were only a few small bugs inside of it even though it was sitting in our basement for like 6 years.
Anyways, after I got it working again the first thing I did was watch High School Musical (the first one) since I have it on DVD. Then I watched it again a few hours later. If you couldn't tell already, I really like the movie High School Musical, a lot. Back to HSM 2, the movie was good... it was just kinda forgettable. It definitely has a better plot than the original (The actual musical isn't even shown in the original movie, I'm pretty sure it's just the auditions lol), but since this movie franchise is called High School Musical, most of my enjoyment of the film is based (xavier) on the music. The soundtrack of HSM 2 was pretty lame, out of the 11 songs featured in HSM 2, I only liked 4. In comparison, out of the 9? songs featured in HSM, I liked all of them except for Gabriella's solo, and Troy and Gabriella's version of "What I've Been Looking For".
I just came back to this a few days later, and I have no idea why I typed all of this. Anyways here is a picture of my High School Musical Wallet.
I couldn't get a clearer picture, sorry. Anyways, I'll rank the HSM movies now.
Good story (good enough), great music, and Punk'd is mentioned by Ryan. This is definitely biased because I saw this movie for the first time when I was like 4, and I've seen it multiple times since then.
Another good story, it was kinda funny when Troy became a meanie-head and told Ryan that he's had Gabriella's mother's cookies. (Yes, I did watch Danny Gonzales' video.) But most of the music was pretty boring.
You would think that since this is the only HSM movie that was released in theaters, that I would like it the most. I think it sucks. Then again, the last time I saw it was in 2019.
